QMA

At Milagro Health Academy, we ensures our Certification program equips our students to meet the requirements for a Qualified Medication Aide (QMA). After successfully completing our training program, students will be able to demonstrate competency in dispensing and passing medications and or applying/administrating treatments.

MHA QMA training program consists of 100 hours of training to include 60 hours of classroom instructions and 40 hours of supervised practicum. MHA coursework consists of didactic instructions and hands-on practice, where our students are encouraged to take advantage of our lab to receive assistance reading a medication administration record (MAR) and practice administering demo drugs via various routes, such as oral, optic, g-tube, etc.
Training Manikins are available to practice QMA skills, such as applying dressings to minor wounds, changing a colostomy bag, and administering medications via G-tube.

It is required to first become certified in Indiana as a CNA. Once certified as a CNA, students may then submit an application with proof of QMA registry in order to take the exam.

By registering for MHA Certification Qualified Medication(QMA) program, you attest to the following:

  • I am 18 or older
  • I’ve taken and passed an approved Indiana Nurse Aide Training course
  • I am currently active on the Indiana Nurse Aide Registry
  • I have worked at minimum 1,000 hours as a Certified Nursing assistant CNA within the past 24 months.

QMA certification is valid for two years, and requires 6 hours of medication-related in-service education to renew.
